How to Buy Right Hearing Aid Machine Online

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 6:34:48 PM Asia/Calcutta

Whether you use hearing aid or not, you must have known that it is pretty expensive. The constant technological advancement is leading to the rapid replacement of traditional hearing aids with the contemporary ones. Besides, many insurance companies are there that do not provide coverage for the device. All these factors accumulate together to compel the people to opt for the hearing aids being sold online.

However, buying the hearing devices means you’re getting the product in hand only when you have paid for it. So, you have to be extra cautious. Extensive research and proper understanding of the features of hearing aid is crucial to have a good buy. Dos that will help you get the right product are highlighted below. Check it out.

Trial Period Matters:

Generally the online sites dealing with hearing devices have either one month or two months trial period. During this period, you should wear your hearing aid machine to find out whether you’re feeling comfortable in it or not. Prior to availing their trail period offer, know about their refund policy. Ask the retailer whether they will return the money in case it is ill-fitted. Buy only when you know everything about their policy of trial period.

Warranty of the Device:

For how long the warranty of your hearing aid is going to last? Is the repairing service is included in its warranty period? These are some of the questions you should seek answers for before placing your order online. Knowing the repairing cost and the type of repairing services included in the warranty will help you in taking decision. Today, various branded companies are offering hearing aids. Your selected brand should have authorization to sell the device, otherwise the warranty card will be of no use.

Consider the Features:

More features means more money. Your hearing aid machine online may have lots of features, some of which may not be useful for you. So, why you’re going to pay for those useless features? Choose the one that has the features you require. However that demands you to determine your needs. Once you know the services that will help you in the long run, will enable you to get the product at a cost-effective way.

Fitting Cost of Your Auditory Device:

If you’re worried about the fitting of your newly bought hearing device, ask the online retailer frankly about it. If they are unable to help you in this respect, its better to avoid such online retailer. Hearing aid fitting is a complicated procedure and only an Audiologist is trained for the same. Without a proper hearing aid fitting your hearing aid will be of no use. Consider this single most important factor while purchasing a hearing aid machine online.

Compare the Prices:

Price comparison is the key to shop without spending unnecessarily. Many eCommerce stores offer discounts to increase their sales. Just by seeing the discounted price, don’t think that the product will be of low quality. Generally, these online stores sell the hearing aids at a discounted price to clear away their old stocks. It is, indeed, a cost-saving option for those who are not much worried about getting traditional models of hearing device but also take care of the fact regarding hearing aid fitting and the after sale service.

Buy From a Reputed Store:

We all trust more on reputed stores. And, chances are that you’re not an exception to it. Just by looking at the design of the website, you can’t tell how reliable it is. For that, you need to go through customers feedback. The more the positive is the customers’ feedback, the more recognized the online seller is. Buying the hearing device from a reputed store means that you will get a quality product. In case, if you face any problem regarding the purchase, their customer support executives will always be there to assist you.

Know the Payment Method:

Your online seller may ask you to pay them the money directly by transferring the amount to their bank account. Mind it, when you do so, the chances of hacking your account is increased. It’s because these kinds of payments do not guarantee encryption. Consequently, your bank details will get exposed which can be used later on to draw money from your account. Hence, it’s better to opt for the COD mode of payment.

The tips shared above will aid you in getting your desired and fitted hearing tool without spending a fortune on it. Follow these steps carefully and also choose your product wisely so as to stay away from the hassles of returning the device.

The Hearing Edge: Why Digital Hearing aids are better than Analog ones

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 6:45:51 PM Asia/Calcutta

Long after the 17th- century ear trumpets, Digital Hearing Aids were first introduced in 1987, and since than many have let go of the analog hearing aid and chosen digital for comfort and ease. Although the debate is still ripe as to which type of hearing aid is better, it can be safely said that digital hearing aids beat analog ones in both function and form. Here are four reasons why:

Digital Hearing Aids have improved Speech and Noise Filtering

Digital Hearing aids are equipped with DSP or Digital Signal processor chips, which apart from transforming analogous sound wave to digital form also help in processing the input sound in such a way, that speech can be distinguished from noise.  Once the hearing aid performs such a task, it amplifies speech and reduces noise to give a clearer, crisper sound. On the contrary, analog hearing aids amplify all sounds together without distinguishing speech and noise which is why it is not as clear as Digital hearing devices.

Digital Hearing Aids are designed for individual needs

Each ear is different in shape as well as the strength of hearing, which is where digital hearing aids have made a mark. Digital Hearing aids are programmable, wherein using software;you can calibrate each hearing aid according to individual hearing needs. Nowadays, you can also find programmable analog hearing aids, but the level of precision that a digital hearing device can provide is still unmatched. In fact, due to its better programming, it can process sound better in various environments, be it a busy road or a quiet study. Also in addition to that, with time, digital hearing aids are getting integrated with new features and technology like Bluetooth, application control, and etc.

Reduced Feedback in Digital Hearing Aids

The biggest setback for analog hearing aids was feedback or whistling sounds. This happened because the technology was not able to anticipate or isolate feedback sounds to provide a clearer and comfortable experience. But when it comes to digital hearing aids, feedback can be gotten rid of altogether or reduced depending on the features and settings of each individual device. This is possible because the sound processor of these hearing aids are programmed to distinguish sound input to such an extent that it can also anticipate feedback and hence be better prepared to minimise it or reduce it completely. This process also helps to get rid of the irritating whistling sounds.

Digital Hearing Aids are Smaller and Sleeker

With the evolution of digital processors, every device has gone on to become smaller and sleeker. Similar to our computers or laptops, digital technology allows hearing aids to be more powerful, while becoming sleeker and smaller.  There are digital hearing devices as small as a dime and wireless and it fits completely in-ear, hidden from plain sight.

If you are looking for digital hearing aids in India, Hearing plus provides the most extensive and affordable hearing aid trial in India. With state-of-the art infrastructure and dedicated audiologists, you could simply walk out with your hearing problem sorted in no time.

All You Need To Know About Your Cochlear Implant Surgery

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 7:15:21 PM Asia/Calcutta

Cochlear implant surgery has become a very common medical procedure worldwide. The operation is used as a corrective procedure for severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss in patients. The decision for the medical procedure is taken by parents or legal guardians for children and by the adults themselves.

The cochlear implant surgery is a 60 – 75 minutes procedure and it is carried out in the outpatient department. Before the medical procedure is conducted by a surgeon, a general medical history of the patient is drawn. This medical history also includes the issues leading to hearing loss and the ultimate decision to undertake the surgical corrective measure.

A complete otolaryngologic and neuro-otologic test are carried out to ascertain the different issues with your ear first. A typical test would be conducted by an audiologist who will measure the performance of your ear with or without your hearing aid. Sometimes OAE (optoacoustic emission) testing reveals the need to undertake trials with a stronger hearing aid than being currently used by you.

In case of children, pure-tone audiometry and auditory brain stem response (ABR) testing is done often. A CT scan is used to obtain the status of the cochlea in order to identify a common cavity, mondini dysplasia (enlarged vestibular aqueduct) or a patent (nonossified) cochlea.

In several circumstances, an MRI is conducted on patient to determine the presence of the eighth nerve or severe ossification. Then a psychological examination is conducted on the patient to see if the patient can cope with the surgical procedure of cochlear implant.

Once clearance from other tests is given, a physical test is conducted to prepare the patient for cochlear implant. After the cochlear implant procedure is conducted the patient may feel the following:-

  1. pressure or discomfort over his (or her) implanted ear
  2. dizziness and  nausea
  3. temporary disorientation or confusion
  4. a sore throat for a while from the breathing tube used during general anesthesia

A person suspecting problems of hearing loss should contact any hearing aid clinic in India. These clinics provide a one stop shop for all your hearing issues and have sufficient infrastructure, relevant professionals and testing facilities all under one roof sparing you the hassle of running around the city from one place to another. The hearing aid clinics in Kolkata are currently using more advanced machinery and testing facilities. These hearing aid clinics are no less well equipped than clinics for hearing aid in Delhi.
